From TST in Kowloon to Macau by Ferry

You have all been so helpful with advice about dinner reservations in Macau. We were able to get a reservation at Henri's Galley.

I tried to make a R/T reservation on Turbojet from Kowloon to Macau for December 24. It looks like there is nothing available in Economy Class until 13:00. Tickets are available in Super Class, though.

We can easily get the return from Macau to Kowloon in Economy Class.

Our options are:

1) Booking two one-way tickets from Kowloon to Macau, using Super Class to Macau and Economy Class for the return.

2) Booking two one-way tickets: Hong Kong to Macau and returning Macau to Kowloon - both in Economy Class. Economy Class is available from Hong Kong to Macau in the morning.

How much additional time would it take to get from TST to Hong Kong Pier - or should we just pay extra and go Super Class from Kowloon? (We will be staying at the Panorama by Rhombus on Hart Avenue in TST.)

Will additional Economy Class tickets become available closer to December 24?

Which option would be best?

Thanks again for all your help.

GoneTravelin:

Don't worry about going from Kowloon's China Ferry Terminal or from Hong Kong Island's Macau Ferry Terminal. The difference is not big.

From your hotel to China Ferry Terminal, you need to walk for about 500 - 600 meters along Haiphong Road and Canton Road. Going to the Macau Ferry Terminal, you take MTR from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central, transfer to Island Line to Sheung Wan. From the Sheung Wan MTR Station, a walk of about 300 meters to the Macau Ferry Terminal building.

Decide based on what makes the most economic sense to you in the ferry schedules and availability. Tsim Sha Tsui seems better, but not a big difference.

The good news is the the super class fare isn't outrageous. The Turbojet website is crashing on me at the moment but if memory serves correctly the upgrade ticket to the Super Class is just HKD$50-60 (US$6.50-7.50) extra per ticket.

Difficult to say. The holiday periods are basically the only time of the year that its a good idea to consider reserving tickets in advance. I'm surprised that they would show being fully reserved already. Then again, Macau rocks! So perhaps that many people are actually going there this Xmas. ;-)

Thanks for your help BradJill and HappyFeet1234. We decided that it was worth it to pay for Super Class from Kowloon. We were able to get Economy for our return.
