Greek Islands

My husband and I are allocating 6 or 7 nights to spend on 2 Greek Islands. We will have visited Santorini for a day on the Cruise before. Which 2 islands should we spend time on? Looking to relax, enjoy walks, enjoy local food and wine, possibly shop. What would you recommend? Where should we stay on the island? Position important and quiet nights.

Hi there

Well, the permutations are almost infinite, there are dozens of islands to choose from in several distinct islands groups. Your wish list as far as things to do could apply to any island really. I take it the trip will start and end in Athens?

What you really need to do initially, is to read up a bit on the various island chains, Sporades, Ionians, Dodecanese, Cyclades, North East Aegean islands, and get an idea of what might appeal to you. We can all make suggestions based on our favouruite islands but it should be your choice as it's your trip. Plenty here willing to help but you do need to narrow things down a bit first.

Just as a general pointer, the Cyclades are the easiest to get around by ferry, then the Dodecanese, then the Ionians.

Another option is not to split the 6-7 days between two islands, but to spend it on one large island such as Rhodes or Crete. This option saves one day's travelling between two islands and gives you more time to relax and explore.

2. Re: Greek Islands

Hi,

Thanks for your advice. Question - on our cruise we're visiting Santorini for a day. Should we spend more time there or should we be better off venturing off to other places.
