Hello - I seem to have analysis paralysis about a trip to the NC coast for the last week in March. Our family wants to relax at a place oceanfront without a lot of touristy stuff like bars and nightlife. On the other hand, I'm afraid we'll get bored if there's nothing open or not much to do. It would be cool to take a boat tour or dolphin watching type thing but I'm worried it will be too cold or that businesses that do those types of things will be closed for the season. Likewise for renting kayaks and exploring the tidal areas. And if so, what do we do for 7 days instead? We want a quiet, relaxing vacation but not an utterly boring one.
So then I think we should head slightly further south and go to Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head but then I worry that those places are TOO commercialized and hectic. But the weather would probably be warmer than the northern NC coast so that would be a plus.
I'm over-thinking this, I know! I saw a condo rental online that is in Ocean Isle Beach, which could be a compromise since then we could stay in a quiet place but still make an hour long drive to someplace with more activities when we want them. But then I did a search to see what there was to do in Myrtle Beach and/or Wilmington and many things still appeared to be seasonal and possibly closed that time of year. See how I'm totally over-thinking this?
I realize this is a difficult thing to answer since I'm so indecisive about everything, so I guess my question is -- Will there be enough to do the last week in March to be able to stay entertained? We like the outdoorsy stuff but I'm worried it will be too cold for those things or that businesses will be closed.
