Where should we stay in Orange County?

This will be added to the Orange County Forum as an FAQ.

Here is my two cents:

Where should you stay on your visit to Orange County, CA, home of the Disneyland Resort, Knott’s Berry Farm, world famous beaches, a Spanish Mission that is over 200 years old, world class shopping and dining choices, professional sports teams and numerous famous festivals?

The answer is a combination of many different factors; what do you want to see and do; when are you coming and for how many nights; who is coming on the trip; will you have a rental car or do you plan to use public transportation and of course, what is your budget.

If your main goal is to visit the theme parks of Orange County, Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure and Knott’s Berry Farm with it water park, Soak City then Anaheim is probably your best option. You have a wide variety of accommodations to choose from, from 5 star resorts and spas to budget conscious motels with many of them in walking distance of Disneyland.

If a beach vacation is what you are looking for Orange County has plenty of coastline and again a variety of accommodations are available with 5 star luxury resorts, less expensive hotels and many vacation rental homes and condominiums. The most popular beach communities are Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, but every beach city in the county will have its share of accommodations and attractions. Some visitors like the quieter communities of Seal Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente.

If your trip is a business trip, the inland cities of Irvine, Costa Mesa and Santa Ana have a range of accommodations in close proximity to the John Wayne Orange County Airport (SNA) and the numerous businesses in those areas, but they are still convenient to both the beach areas and theme park areas

If you have more questions after reading this, feel free to ask a question in the Orange County Forum or in any of the city forums, i.e. Anaheim, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, etc.

If you do ask a question, including the following information will help you get the best, most complete answer; what do you want to see and do; when are you coming and for how many nights; who is coming on the trip; will you have a rental car or do you plan to use public transportation and of course, what is your nightly budget for lodging in U.S. Dollars.

You might want to add something about what beach is most convenient to Disneyland, since it seems to be asked a lot on here that the person wants to visit both Disney and the beach.

IMHO, I think to mention places like Garden Grove, Orange (Near the Outlets of Orange and Buena Park.

These are area that the ART shuttle system is used to take folks from the local Hotels/Motels to the Disneyland and other Tourist attractions in the area.

Garden Grove has spent a lot of money to develop the International West Resort area at/near the corner of Harbor and Chapman.

The Ayres Orange and the DoubleTree Orange are also good options on the ART system. So I would expand the Disneyland area to not just include Anaheim. (Heck, some hotels in Anaheim, like the Anaheim Hills area is a lot father away than the ones mentioned above.

9. Re: Where should we stay in Orange County?

Can anyone help please, we are a couple in our 60's we are well travelled and thinking of going to CF next June, we like a nice beach with sun beds on and somewhere to have lunch, and in the evening we like a nice meal and a few drinks, don't mind music and like meeting people of all ages, also we like to shop, so we don't want somewhere very quiet. We would also be using public transport and would like to stay close to the beach. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

10. Re: Where should we stay in Orange County?

Because the beach is all public property in California (CA for short) I can't think of any beach that has loungers (sun beds) actually on the beach. There are places that rent beach chairs, but I don't think it is what you have in mind. Here is a pic of what they rent usually.

You might start your own topic, lay out again your ages, when you are thinking about doing this, what your budget is for rooms and any sightseeing or activities you might want to do.
