This past weekend I followed 302, through the notch from Glen to Bethlehem. I chose this drive because it was the shortest distance between two points. I've driven it in summer and fall and know how pretty it is, but I didn't expect to be so impressed with it at this time of year with bare trees and all.
But I was WRONG. It was spectacular. I never noticed all the birches and without leaves, the bark is positively SILVERY when the sun hits it. When we drove the sun was peeking in and out of the clouds and it was SO PRETTY!
The weather was very mild for this time of year, and I'm sorry we couldn't have planned a short hike. One member of our family is nursing an injury and on top of that, our time was limited. But this is definitely something I will keep in mind for the future.Edited: 5:04 pm, November 25, 2012
