Nightlife in Kamari in August

Hi,

I am travelling to Kamari in August with my husband and wanted to know what the nightlife will be like. We do enjoy lively places and do enjoy late night bars and clubs but was hoping its not going to be full of young 18 year olds!! Also how easy is it to travel to Perissa in the night time?

Thanks,

To get to Perissa, you'd need to get a bus from Kamari to Fira and another one from Fira to Perissa. Otherwise via taxi. The water taxi between Kamari and Perissa stops running about 5.00 p.m.

Don't worry - although both Kamari and Perissa will have plenty of lively nightlife in August, neither place attracts the sorts of people that you see in the likes of Kavos, Benidorm, Ibiza etc - it's too blooimg expensive.

As kennydon says, the only ways between the two places at night are either by bus, changing at Fira both times, not very convenient, or taxi, can become expensive, especially if you're travelling back after midnight.

Both Albatross Bar and Loveboat in Kamari are open until the small hours. Albratross is great - live music until around 11 then disco. Both abide by strict rules on noise pollution, so unless you're there, you wouldn't know about them. Santorini is so, so not an 18 year old clubbers destination! They'd never afford the cocktails...!

Thank you so much, how long would it take in a taxi to get back to Kamari from Perissa?

Thanks again

It'll probably take somewhere between 20 and 25 minutes, depending on how madly the driver is driving. It's sometimes best to have your eyes closed.

You will need to ask someone at the bar/restaurant in Perissa to order a taxi for you, that's the easiest way.

You may also need to be prepared to share, especially if it's peak time as there are only a few taxis to service the entire island, about 50 in total, unless they've increased the numbers of them over last few years.

How long . . . Depends on what's available - there are only about 40 taxis on the whole island. If they're available, about 15-20 minutes to (presumably) come from base at Fira. Maybe quicker if there's one in the area. They can get scarcer after midnight.

Note: They haven't updated their prices list from 2011, but don't assume that the prices haven't risen.

The absolutely best nightlife is in Fira. The bus takes 15 minutes . Tropical bar is great and has a mixed age group, Koo Club, Casablanca Club. For the younger Murphy's bar and Highlander. A bit more sofisticated Tango bar but they have the BEST and latest music with mixed Ethnic rythms and a lot more!!

It varies, depending on the season, but probably quite late, as you're going in August and it's the peak of the season.

Just get an up to date timetable once you get there. Your hotel will probably have one on a notice board, or at least have oneavailable. They're also plastered over the bus stops themselves.
