Didn't appear to be able to add a review for this chalet on the main tripadvisor site so thought i'd post it on the forum instead.
I was initially a little worried about booking the catered Chalet D'arles as i couldn't find any reviews anywhere on the internet. I needn't have worried, however, as we had an absolutely fantastic time in a wonderful chalet.
The chalet itself is great with a lovely wood burner at the centre of the lounge, good sized bedrooms and nicely furnished. Its about 10-15 minutes relatively easy walk to the centre of les Carroz and even closer to the main ski lift.
Les Carroz is a great ski resort, not too pricey, not too busy even mid-February and has easy skiing access to the entire Grand-Massif ski area (including Flaine which is much more expensive and much uglier!). The area has a nice mix of runs, and we definitley preferred those in Les Carroz, Samoen and Morillon to Flaine, although its definitely worth getting a pass for the whole Grand Massif area as it only costs an extra 30 euros for the week compared to 15 euros for a day.
The key to the whole experience, however, were our chalet hosts Gavin and Sue. Nothing was too much trouble throughout our entire stay and we were looked after wonderfully for the whole week. Sue's home cooking was fantastic, we were given lifts (about 2 minutes) to and from the slopes any time, had afternoon tea ready for our return and pre dinner drinks and nibble always turned up just when we fancied them! A steady flow of wine was ever present with dinner for the whole week and to top it off they were really great company! Ski hire, lessons and passes were swiftly arranged when we got to Les Carroz after the short transfer with Gavin from Geneva.
We had a great weeks skiing and Gavin and Sue will definitley be my first port of call for any future holidays in the Grand Massif area. I'm sure there are slightly more luxurious or ski in\out chalets but I really wouldn't have changed a thing!
