Vamos, As you can see, everyone has their favorite block for various reasons. We have visited the Royal Decameron 4 times, with each time, staying in Block 4. It is located next to the Tropical buffet (there is another buffet restaurant at the other end of the resort, the Flamingo), it has its own pool and bar, like many of the other blocks). Because the block is in the shape of a "U", you will get a full on oceanview room, or a partial oceanview room. With that being said, if you are in ANY of the blocks close to the beach, there is a good chance you will get some sort of ocean view, and, there is no extra charge. Block #1 is the only building touted as being oceanfront. It really isn't oceanfront, where you can walk out of your room, onto the beach. There is a walkway, with shrubs lining it, that blocks you from the beach. If you have a ground floor room, you will not get much of an ocean view. If you stay in the upper floor, you can see the ocean, but, there isn't much privacy. They have these weird, clear plexiglass dividers on the balcony, so you can see whatever you neighbor is doing. Many guests still love Block #1......others have stated it wasn't worth the extra money. If you want peace and quiet, Block #5, the adults only pool, is nice, I find it toooo quiet for my taste, but, many guests love it. Although we have never stayed in Block 6 (which is the newest and has central air conditioning), I believe it can get crazy fun, as we have sat in Block 6 before dining at the Italian restaurant (located in Block 6), and, I believe there is music played. I don't recall any music at any of the other blocks, other than round the activity pool, although, maybe I was talking too much and didn't notice it. What is sooo nice about the Royal Decameron is if you get bored at one pool, you can visit any one of the other pools, until you find the one that fits your "vibe" on that particular day. Although the resort is quite large, it does not have the feel of a mega resort, maybe because the resort is not really that deep. If you stay in Block 5 or Block 6, the buildings sit behind the original 4 buildings, lining the beach, but, it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach, unlike the walk at a mega resort, where is can take 15 minutes to get near the beach.
Even though the Royal Decameron is only a 3-3.5 star resort, the resort has a huge return guest following, most likely because there is something for everyone and you cannot beat the price.
