My husbands passport runs out on the 28th may 2013,we arrive in st lucia on the 28th of oct.I believe that you have to have 6 months remaining from your arrival date to be allowed entry.We have checked with travl agents over here and they say he is ok,is this true.Some people have said its from the departure date from St lucia,callculating that we r still ok.

You are fine. No worries. Yes, it is supposed to be 6 months from arrival (may be departure) - but you have that, no problem. It is 7 months from Oct 28 til May 28 - so unless you are staying for longer than a month, you are covered with both. And no, they don't check that close most of the time, just basically check to be sure you have a reasonable amount of time - that you won't expire while on-island.

Phew,thanks reedprincess we didnt renew his passport as we worked out he had enough time left on it,but he is a worrier and wont be happy untill his bags are on the plane.Really cant wait now,only 1 week from today and we will be there,looking forward to it so much.

get on with enjoying it! 6 months means exactly that. now, for the future - you can renew your passport up to a year in advance of its expiration date and get that year 'credited' onto your new passport. so you need never face this worry again!
