Help with transfer

Hi we want to go to the Barcelo Tambor.

Transfer is 5 hours. Do you have any idea how to get a small plane from San Jose to the small airport. Do you know of a transfer company that would take a family of four for less than

HOLA Mary!

The best you can do in private basis...around $ 275.00.

With a reputable company with good insurance per person and recent years vehicles.

Any charter plane it will be a lot more money!

Flights to Tambor from San Jose by SANSA airlines

Price per person each way...$83.00 $66.00

634 CNA 7:40 8:15 From November 20th to April 30th

636 CNA 10:25 11:00 From November 20th to April 30th

638 CNA 12:30 13:05 From November 20th to April 30th

642 CNA 14:00 14:35 From November 20th to April 30th

640 CNA 16:00 16:35 From January 1st to April 30th

As I can see maybe the best option is by a private van.

You can try and mail...ivan@ridescostarica.com

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Just buckle up and enjoy the ride in PARADISE!

You can always rent a car too and make the nice drive yourself, nice drive and ferry crossing, you will enjoy it. return the car in Tambor, or keep for side trips.

Hi Mary, we will be traveling there in the next few weeks. We used Nature Air for our transfer. Its a van that will take us from the airport to the hotel and back. I believe for a group of 5 it's less than $200 US. I was told driving isn't easy and we wanted to relax and let them take care of us on our trip.

There is an airline that flies from SJO to Tambor but it's a small plane and pretty expensive.

Hope you enjoy your trip!

You have received some good info - however just to expand or clarify

the two airlines that have scheduled service Tambor are Natureair and Sansa.

Sansa flys from a small terminal right next door to SJO International airport.

You can check their website

for prices and times at the time when you want to travel

Natureair flys from Pavas Airport - a small airport closer to the city - about 25 minutes by cab from SJO.

You can check out the scheduled shuttles like Interbus.

(Tambor does not show up - until you put in Montezuma and then it pops up as an option for $39.00 per person with an 8 AM departure..)

(I suspect that poster #3 may have meant Interbus as Natureair is an airline...)

Sometimes the Interbus web site is not that user friendly. Forum members have reported success booking shuttles on this site

They actually book Interbus on some routes and give you a bit of a discount.

The airlines all have small planes and severe luggage restrictions - so that may be a factor too. Extra weight in luggage costs - Nature Air has a toll free US/CDA 1 800 number you can call for info.

PS - The staff are great, but the website is lousy.

Tur Bus, Zuma Tours (all on google) can provide you with good shuttle info. A shuttle may well be your easiest/cheapest option, and then you get collected t the airport, the nice ferry ride in between the mainland & the penninsula and delivered right to your door.
