Hello! Starting to plan and research a trip for spring or summer 2014 to AMI. The beach is important to us in terms of being able to wade in, float around and swim, etc... Waves are not that important, but the slope into the water is. We have to been to beaches on the east coast (north of Florida) that had a steep slope in and then a steep drop off... not what we were hoping for! We are finding houses in the Holmes Beach section of AMI that we are interested in renting but have not been to the island before. We go to a beach every summer, and I know weather, and erosion are always a factor, but in general, would you say that Holmes Beach would fit our criteria of gentle slope, no drop off? And finally, I have read articles on a beach nourishment project for this area. Any idea of the time frame for this? We would want to come after the bulldozers are done! Much thanks in advance for the advice/feedback.
