Hey

Great location choice.

Hotel recommendation is subjective and is based on personal opinion/tastes that don't necessarily match yours.

Its probably better for you if you have a look at the range of hotels available in Rhodes Town and narrow it down to a few that appeal to you and then post the names of the hotels on TA. You would hopefully get more detailed, informative responses from travellers who have stayed there to help you make a final decision. Alternatively you can check out the hotel reviews on TA or use the search facility on TA to check previous threads/conversations regarding that particular hotel.

Try keying 'Rhodes Town Hotels' into Google and it will will give you numerous sources such as:

expedia

alpharooms

Greekhotel

together with many others.

If you prefer a package, try Thompson/Olympic/Thomas Cook/First Choice etc etc.

With regards to beaches in Rhodes Town, they can only be described as "ok" or "standard". The best beaches are all situated down the East coast starting with Falaraki, Tsambika, Agathi, Lindos, Pefkos, Glystra and finally Prassonissi in the far south. The East coast also has many places of interest including Kalithia Spa, Waterpark, Lindos, Lardos and Prassonissi where the Aegean Sea meets the Med Sea. There are more places of interest in in the interior and West coast of the island.

Would recommend hiring a car so you can take in as much as you can and give you the freedom to explore. Failing that, public transport (bus) travels down to the East coast but not as far as the the South tip of the island. It is cheap and reliable. Bus routes also travel down the West coast.

As you are gonna be based in Rhodes Town, you are very well placed to take day trips over to the likes of Symi (beautiful island) and Kos and Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye in Turkey. There are also a variety of boat trips down the East coast taking in some of the locations I mentioned earlier.

There are loads of great restaurants and bars in R/T not forgetting the Old Town. A favourite of mine is Kontiki floating restaurant in Mandraki harbour but that is only my opinion.

Hope you find the hotel your looking for

Mart
