I've just returned from there, stayed at same hotel. You can swap your HB dinner for lunch in the same buffet restaurant with 1 days notice - ask at reception and they'll give you a ticket.

We took the bus into Rhodes, stops outside the hotel, 2 Euros each, at 5pm and it was packed so maybe go a little earlier as the shops in the old town are open all day. 10-12 Euros for a taxi back.

Get a Rhodes map from hotel reception, has a city map on the back, and when you get there find Socrates Street to orientate yourself.

We had cocktails at the Panoramic Bar on a square with a fountain in the middle and then dinner at Rustico Restaurant - go up Socrates street to the pink mosque, turn left and it's on the left with vines for a "roof". Free Ouzo & coffee liquor and we shared a deliciously fresh seafood platter for 39 Euros.

Been to Rhodes a lot in the last 20 years and can recommend some of my favorites. The old town is filled with "tourist-traps" but there is a lovely place to visit, Marco Polo Mansion!. A small lovely garden with great food and very friendly service. Open evenings only.

The best beach taverna food can be found at Tassos Beach in Kalithea just outside town on the east-coast. The cheese-balls are to die for!!!

Then you have the fantastic Restaurant Wonder just outside the Old City walls. Fantastic food, great service and nice atmosphere. And Scandinavian owned to make things easier!!!

ta Koupies in Tris (about 10 minute taxi ride) is without question the "splurge" choice on this island.

Fabulous food, beautiful understated setting in a little town off the beaten path. It has long been considered one of the best restaurants in Greece..pricey but so worth it....go hungry, its plate after plate of different fresh foods elegantly prepared. also very "romantic/special"!
