Thank you for your message Embrees. I emailed Richard and he said that there is a bar next to Casa Azul and the noise/music is pretty bad. Did you have that experience while you were there? Also, when were you there, and was the ocean at Playa Carmen gentle enough for some wading/swimming? We stayed a bit further north and were also wondering if it was more noisy and crowded near the crossroads at Casa Azul....Again thanks and Happy New Year.

Thanks Wefish....We are familiar with the names of the places you suggested. They are however not all on the beach side. We are staying near but not on the beach at two other places in Costa Rica during this trip, and were hoping that our last stay would be on the beach. Casa Azul looks great, but the owner warned us about a lot of noise from a new bar next door. Noise is relative, so we are unsure. Any tips you have are appreciated.

Ranchos Itauna is a nice place on the beach, but has no pool. Have you checked out VRBO to see if there is a rental within you budget?

Thank you Wefish...vrbo is a great idea. I have been emailing with the owner of Casa Azul. He seems like a great guy, we may stay there. He also recommended Amor de Mar in Montezuma over Sano Banano. It costs a bit more, but sounds like a great place in a great spot. I really appreciate your input. pura vida
