There (technically), is a road that goes from Nosara/Samara to Sta Teresa, however - it is VERY rough, only passable in the very driest season, is unmarked at intersections, involves river crossings and it is highly unlikley that you would find a shuttle or even private driver who would take that route, and I really don't recommend it for a self-driving visitor who doesn't know the route.

The usual option is to inland and head south from there. For this journey, if it is in your budget, a shuttle is much quicker than public bus, but if you hve a car, then l least it is sign-posted. Come off the highway at Barranca for Puntarenas (about 18km) and follow the signs for the ferry. At the other side of the gulf, turn right and follow the signs - there is only 1 main road.
