Hotels near the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang

We're attending a wedding at Rasa Sayang in February, and are looking for nearby hotels (walking distance, if possible) that are less expensive. I'm trying to decide between these:

- ParkRoyal

- Hard Rock Hotel

- Holiday Inn

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Hi

I'll put it in walking terms . . .

Another option might be Golden Sands is 5mins walk, and next door to the Shangri-la Rasa Sayang, and is normally a cheaper option to the RS.

The between the Golden Sands and the Holiday Inn is the recently refurbished Lone Pine . . . worth looking at! This would be a 5-10mins walk from the RS.

The next Holiday Inn and Park Royal are about a 10-15mins walk, are next to each other, with the Holiday Inn being the RS side of the Park Royal

The Hard Rock Hotel is a good 20-25mins walk, as its at the far end of Batu Ferringhi.

To be honest that is just about it, although there is the Bayview Hotel, but that is on the far side of the Hard Rock Hotel, and would be a good 25min walk to the RS.

Can't really recommend, as your idea of heaven might be my idea of hell, so do read the reviews in the left hand panel, and see what appeals to you most.

Have fun!!

Thanks, that's very helpful. I'll take a look at Lone Pine. GS was a bit pricey.

Lone Pine is fine - everything's shiny and new. Well designed. Not sure how long this will last given the staff are not maintaining it well and haven't been well trained. Its fine if you're expecting upper mid-market quality, rather than "luxury" as advertised by the website. I'm not sure RM880++ is worth it - reviewers who've given it a good review post refurbishment have all mentioned a discount?

Another option, if you don't need beach-front or breakfast inclusive accommodation, is to look into the Sri Sayang apartments directly across the road from the Rasa Sayang.

There are both "serviced apartments" and privately owned apartments in the building. The "serviced apartments" get pretty bad reviews on here, but some of the privately owned ones are lovely.

The building has an on-site restaurant (which apparently now is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner), tennis court, swimming pool, and convenience store.

You could get a 2 bedroom, fully self contained (with 2 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, lounge, and balcony overlooking the ocean) apartment for less than the cost of a hotel room in one of the resorts along the strip.
