Can anyone give me an estimate how much we should pay from the airport to Batu Ferringhi Holiday Inn? This is the first time we have been to Penang so have no idea, many thanks.

You have no fear of being ripped off as taxis from the airport are on a coupon system.
Airport to Batu Ferringhi is RM60 (fixed price)
Airport to Georgetown is RM42 (fixed price)
When you come out of arrivals (having collected your baggage), head to the taxi coupon counter and pay your fare. You will be given a ticket/voucher which shows your destination. Then head outside to the taxi queue guys who will get you into a cab.
Don't be concerned that they are not marked taxis, the ones from the airport pretty much are never marked but when you get inside they have all the paperwork showing they are "airport taxis" or "airport limos".
Hope this helps,

Thanks guys, that is similar to LCCT airport KL...much appreciate your information. Looking forward to yet another escape. Thanks again.
Hi
[Thankfully] all Malaysian [international] airports have the same coupon system for taxis - which works very well indeed.
Just returned home today from 8 nights at the Holiday Inn. Very relaxing.
The taxi system appeared much more organised than it did a few years ago when we last travelled to Penang. We found prices are as stated in previous replies.
We also booked a driver for a four hour trip. Cost was RM100 for the four hours - 4 of us 2 adults and 2 children. Thank you to one of the Trip Advisor contributors for the drivers details - No. 76-C-1 Batu Ferringhi, opposite the Park Royal. Small shop between a Tailor shop and a convenience shop.
We visited the Botanical Gardens, Batik factory, reclining buddha, Fort Cornwallis and Chew Jetty.
My aim is to write a review in the next couple of days.
Hope you have a great time.
