Bonifacio for the day

Is the Bonifacio Citadel within walking distance of the port. How far is Aiguilles de Bavella and what is the best way to get there? Thanks, Mary

The Citadel is a steep walk from the harbour. The Aiguilles de Bavella are about 90 kms away and it is at an hour and half (at least) each way.

We have a day in Bonifacio - taking the ferry from Santa Teresa Gallura, Sardinia. Are there tours available? We are 4 couples- active seniors.

You really don't need an organized tour to explore Bonifacio. It not very large and is essentally on two levels....the Harbor Level and the Haut Ville (The Old Town). You climb the steps to get up to the Citadel. Or in the summer there is a little tourist train to take you around for a few euros.

Bonifacio is a brilliant spot.

Hi flyawaygirl56003, the one tour which is available (and massively advertised locally) are the boat trips from Bonifacio harbour...it is very commercial but at the same time a great opportunity to discover the local islands (Lavezzi, etc.), creeks, hidden beaches and sea life. If you spend a day without a car at Bonifacio i would definitely recommand that you do a boat trip in the morning/for lunch and you keep the visit of the old town for the evening (too hot to walk up otherwise). Have a great Corsican day out.
