Springdale to St George suggestions please

In a couple of weeks we will be driving from the Cliffrose Lodge (after breakfast) to The Inn at Entrada St George (4pm check in) Am looking for the best scenic ideas to spend the time along the way. We thought of doing a detour to the Kolob Canyon Road and then are we best having a late lunch in St George or is there anywhere else we could stop on the way Many thanks for any suggestions

You could check out Grafton ghost town, which is just outside Rockville (which is next to Springdale.) Kolob Terrace Road is certainly worth a drvie.

Will you already have driven thru the tunnel to the east side of Zion? That is worth seeing.

Grafton Ghost town is just outside Zion.Pics.

There is another ghost town called Silver Reef not too far from St George.

Kolob Terrace Road up to Lava Point is a nice drive. The reservoir is up that way too.

Kolob Canyon is nice.Drive to the end, maybe do a short walk on one of the trails.

Snow Canyon State Park and Sand Hollow State Park are also in the area.

A few good places in St George to eat such as Black Bear diner..... a wide selection, and, good food, great service, and inexpensive. Even if they have a line, and they always do, the wait is usually only about 15 min. Kneaders Bakery and Cafe..... is a small cafe, They have soup and sandwiches freshly made, and serve a great pancake breakfast, and great desserts.. The Painted Pony...... is nice for a nicer meal.

If your comming in on a weekend, the popular restaurants are very busy, I would suggest eating at off hours to avoid some of that if possible.

Hope you enjoy your time in St George, its a nice town to visit with lots to do in the area. This is a good list with top 10 things to do, all of which are fun.

Your Hotel is very nice and well rated with stunning scenery, Im sure you will like it. Your close to Snow Canyon as well, but its going to be quite hot this time of year, so you may want to limit hiking to the early morning hours.

Sorry it's me back Have been wondering since we haven't done the tunnel/east side of Zion would it be worth going that way and then cutting across via Cedar City We just want to see as much as possible in our limited time Thanks

Driving thru the tunnel and along the east mesa section of Zion is definitely worth it. It's absolutely stunning scenery. You could stop just after the tunnel and take the short Canyon Overlook trail. The drive to Checkerboard Mesa is amazing. Big Horn sheep are often seen along the cliffsides through here.

It would be a long drive but you could take 89 to the 14 and come back trhu Cedar City, like you said. If you had time, once you're on the 15 going south you could take a short detour and go thru Kolob Canyon before you go back to ST. George.
