Plans for first evening

We are staying 2 nights at the Desert Pearl in April. We will be driving in from Vegas and arriving in Springdale at around 5 or 6 on a Sunday evening and then leaving for Bryce Tuesday morning.

I was wondering what would be the best plan for our first evening in Springdale. Should we attempt to go into the park or should we check in, have a nice dinner and relax at the hotel?

Any other advice or tips that anyone can give about Zion would be much appreciated. It will be our first time at Zion (or out west at all for that matter)!

Thanks!

You picked a nice place to stay. The shuttle starts running the beginning of April, so if you want to see some of the canyon before it gets dark, you can hop on and ride into the canyon. You catch the canyon shuttle at the visitor center. If it is getting dark(remember there is an hour time difference between NV and Utah) when you arrive, check in and go out to eat. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.Nice photo galleries in town also.If you like to hike,Angels Landing is a classic.Or at least go as far as Scouts Lookout. The Narrows hike up the Virgin River is fun, but that time of year, may have too much runoff. The Emerald pools trail is nice.

On the way to Bryce, try the short Canyon Overlook trail, just outside the exit of the tunnel.

Dez40 - Thank you so much for your very helpful (and quick) response. Just curious - do you know how late the shuttle runs in April? Also, how late are restaurants open in town(especially on a Sunday)? I think I remember reading that a lot of them close kind of early!

Thank you so much!

In the spring, the shuttle runs until 10.You can catch the in town shuttle right in front of your hotel. The restaurants tend to close early, as it is not the heavy tourist season yet.Your hotel will give you info on the restaurants when you check in.

Word is that the best dinner in Springdale is at the Spotted Dog...
