Hotel for Nov. 3

So ... a girlfriend and I are traveling to Cincy to shop at IKEA and visit Jungle Jim's. We also have tickets to David Sedaris that evening at the Aronoff. I'm also hoping to visit the Underground Railroad Museum, maybe the Aquarium and perhaps Mt Adams. Realize we'll need to do some driving at least part of the time. Didn't realize there's a home Bengels game that weekend ... so almost all downtown hotels are booked. Can get a room at the Covington Marriott for a decent big city rate ... saw that the shuttle stops running early. I assume it'll be easy to grab a cab? Is walking out of the question?

You aren't going to try to squeeze in all of the above in one day are you? The CovingtonMarriott is very nice and you could walk to downtown across the RoeblingSuspensionBridge easily enough or get a cab or a regular bus. You could also get a regular bus from CovingtonKY to NewportKY for the Aquarium. For Mt. Adams, you would need to drive or get a cab. [goofy spelling is to avoid the idiotic auto. links on this site]. That said, since you are likely going to have to drive anyway you might opt for a cheaper motel in either N.Kentucky or one of the Cincy suburbs like Blue Ash.

We'll be there two days. Loosely thinking of Findlay Market and Underground Railroad Museum on Saturday, Mt. Adams for drinks after the show. Then Aquarium, Ikea and JJ on Sunday.

Sounds like a reasonable plan. There is a nice watering hole across from the Aranoff called Nicholson's http://nicholsonspub.com/.

Nearby Nada has two bars and makes for a nice place for a drink as does Palamino that overlooks Fountain SquareOH so you may not have to venture as far as Mt. Adams, especially if your show ends late. You might also opt to check out of your hotel Sunday, park in the garage at NewportKY on the Levee and walk to the Aquarium then on to the Jungle and Ikea and stay the night somewhere in West ChesterOH and environs. Sunday night will be kind of dead downtown anyway. There is another Marriott close to Ikea as well as some other places and lots and lots to choose from for dinner.
