Parrot Heads and a weekend in Cincinnati

I am in charge of planning our trip to Cincinnati. We will be there Saturday night (Aug 20) and Sunday night (Aug 21). We will be seeing JB Sunday night. I am looking for restaurants and bars for women 37 years old. We are good for mid priced restaurants and enjoy steaks & seafood. Last time (a couple of years ago) we ate at Montogomery's Boat House, The Palamino (where we saw JB at lunch!!!), took the riverboat cruise, partied at some college bar (we were tad old for the place but our hottie waiter told us JB might be there later) and hit the Argosy Casino on our way back to Indiana. Any ideas or tips? I did notice the Mt Adams neighborhood looked cool! Also, how hard is it to get Reds or Bengals tickets?

Also, my friend booked a two bedroom suite at Garfield Suites (stayed there last time), but if there are any better suggestions??? I will also want to know distances. Is it easy to catch a cab? We will have a car but since we are there to party, would rather play it safe and walk or cab it.

I think you gals would love the new JB restaurant Chesseburger in Paradise in Eastgate. They have bands playing every night. You can look at their website at www.cheeseburgerinparadise.com and click on Cincinnati location. They open daily at 4:00 pm.It is a few exits north of Riverbend where the JB concert is at.As far as hotels there are tons of places. If you want to stay in Downtown I like downtown Covington better. There are so many choices and restaurants in that area.Embassy suites are nice.Radisson is too.You may want to stay in the surburbs near riverbend. The reds are in town that weekend and tickets are easy to get.The bengals season will just be starting and they are not playing that weekend.Cabs are easy to get.I think you gals would love Newport on the Levee there are restaurants and bars.I suggest the Shadowbox Cabaret.A great comedy and rock in roll club.If you need any other information let me know I would be glad to help.

I would try newport on the levee. If you like seafood, mithcells fish market is awesome, and they take reservations! Brio is also on the levee and is very good tuscan food. The funny bone comedy club and shadowbox cabaret is great too! As for clubs, mount adams is good, but I will warn you , it is mostly college kids. It is hard to fins a olace that isnt. I f you want a jazzclub, upstar crow is good, it is at the levee, but it is non- smoking! hope i helped!!

I have to agree with Sweetie, Newport on the Levee is the place to be. The Shadowbox Caberet there is great fun, but you do need to reserve and pay for tickets ahead of time. Website is shadowboxcaberet.com There are several locations, pick the Kentucky one. Try the late show, cheaper price, same show! Mitchells Fish Market at the Levee has great fish or Deweys Pizza for a more casual meal. I also reccomend Rock Bottom Brewery right on Fountain Square in the middle of downtown.

Buffet fans will enjoy Cheeseburger in Paradise, but the food , IMHOP, is just average, plus it's bound to be very busy that weekend.

Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse downtown is having a Buffet Party on Friday night starting at 9:00, specials on Margaritas and Coronas with Kelly Red & the Hammerheads. Phone is 784-1200.

Have a great time

Forgot to talk about transportation. When we stay downtown we take the Tank bus (Northern Kentucky line) to go to the Levee. Numerous stops in downtown Cincy, it costs about 2.00 and there is a late bus around midnight to bring you back to the Cincy side of the river.

You should go to Hoffbrauhaus at Newport. german beer garden with all ages there. Authentic polka bands play on weekend nights and the place gets rowdy with people dancing on the benches and tables, but it's tons of fun. they only carry their own beer brewed in house, but it's a higher alcohol % than store bought brews. and the serving sizes are giant. There is also Claddaugh's (sp) Irish pub that has the absolute best fish and chips. The portion sizes, again, are huge and the fish is very yummy. I don't even normally like fish, but i eat fish at this place only (and the swordfish at Mitchell's Fish Market, all fresh fish flown in daily). Mt adams is ok, but a college age crowd. you should be able to get reds tickets pretty easily if they're playing in town that weekend. they're playing pretty poorly right now, so the stadium hardly ever sells out.

If we go to Newport, is there enough to occupy us for the day/evening? I would like to wander around, eat at Mitchell's and go to the Shadowbox Cabaret (looked fun!).

I would definitly say thre is enough to occupy you. check the website , just google newport on the levee. Go under events, there could be something going on there that weekend, there always is, and live music every weekend. also, there is a few stores there, barnes and noble, american eagle etc, and a movie theatre if you are bored during the day. The aquarium is good during the day too. I spend saturdays there all the time ,and i am occupied!!

The aquarium is loads of fun (a bit pricey) but it's really nice. there is definately enough to keep you busy for a day. and the crabcakes at Mitchells are to die for.

There is plenty of shopping and restaurants as well as entertainment at Newport on the Levee. The aquirum is running a special with BB riverboat for it and a cruise.Google Newport Aquirum and look on their website. If you want to go to Jeff Ruby's they are having a JB party go to www.gototown.com/cgi-bin/listevent.cgi… Did you all decide on what hotel u are staying at?
