Your shopping must buys??!

I'm looking forward to my first visit to Hawaii - I loved visiting the mainland a few years ago and our Aussie dollar wasn't even close to the rate it was back then.

I'm looking forward to buying new jeans - I remember Levi's & Lee being $30 compared to $100 at home, I'm desperate for a new handbag, surf clothes rip curl billabong etc so much cheaper again!

So what do you buy ??

Hi Elisa,

Its our first trip to Hawaii as well... first time to the states too so we're really looking forward to the shopping (go the Aussie dollar!). We leave this coming Friday so have frantically been doing the rounds of the local shops and dept stores getting an idea of our prices so I know what kind of savings we can likely expect.

On my list of must buys are are cosmetics & skin care, perfume, handbags, shoes, and definitely a few good pairs of jeans. We did a big clean up of the wardrobe over the weekend so now have loads of room to bring back new goodies!

I'm also going to look into the likelihood of having prescription glasses and/or sunglasses made up (I wear prescription Maui Jim sunnies so would love another pair if I can get them cheaper than here.)

Plus if you are into Swarovski or Pandora then you should definitely find some bargains (maybe good christmas gifts).

When are you going?

Can I suggest you check out top right on this page - Top Questions and immediately click onto 'shopping for Aussies'. After you have soaked up all that information and taken notes of what and where I suggest you also pop your question in the search section. This question has been asked so many times and the BEST answers are there. Where to buy, what to buy, prices paid......we aussies are great at sharing info about the quickest way to fill those suitcases and how to take nothing with you so there is more space in the suitcase. Just as a side issue - I have found Pandora so similar to home spent money on other purchases.

Sorry to exhaust you mamma,

Imagine how exhausting it is for us Aussies having to constantly explain that we don't all keep a Kangaroo in our backyard ;)

I'll be sure to check out the other posts as well though....

What............you don't have a kangaroo in your backyard. Clearly gcnicho you must live in the city!!!!!!! Do hope your holiday is fantastic - you will get the Hawaii bug, so easy to catch. I have been 14 times and was there in April and again in September this year. Look on the trip as a starter because as soon as you return home you will be saying........next time I will......do/buy/see.

Haha no kangaroo for me Patti, I've settled for a few possums and kookaburras instead :)

Yes I wish we had booked a longer trip but work commitments prevented that, and 2011 was technically meant to be a year for us to save money hence the 'short break' rather than a full holiday.... And yes there is always next time!

Swarovski is 2/3 the price. If your interested go to the Swarovski site and change your country to USA up the top and you can see their prices. I get a catalogue from the Swarovski shop in Oz and then check the site for US prices so I have an idea of cost and savings when there.

Adidas clothes are cheap at the Waikiele outlets,as are Tommy Hilfiger bags, and Levis.

You also must go to the Ross Dress for Less stores as they have Calvin Klein, Guess bags and athlete brand clothes cheap plus lots more.Nordstrom Rack cannot be passed up for great prices on all clothes.

Athletic shoes are at least a 1/3 cheaper and sometimes we have only paid a 1/3 of the price they are here, check out Sears, Famous Footwearand other shops for Nike, New Balance etc
