I will travel to Oahu this coming December with my family. I would like to take my parents to see Luau show. I did research on this site and there are lots of different opinions. Therefore, it's really hard for me to choose the best show. Since this is the first time for my parents in Haiwaii and I think this is probably the last time for them, so I want to take them to the best show. We don't care much of their food, but we really want to see the REAL tranditional luau. Please advise and really appreciate for all your help.

Mike

Polynesian Cultural Center has the best Polynesian entertainment in Hawaii.

The Ali'i Luau package is a good package there.

10 shows compared to one at all of the other luaus.

Their evening show, 'Horizons' is awesome.

Lots of Oahu info:

There are some on this forum that bash PCC because it is operated by Mormons.

Just ignore their bashing.

Dusty..PLEASE! There is nothing traditional or "historic" about the PCC Luau and show! I choose to donate to religion elsewhere...the show presented has nothing to do with reality and is quite offensive to anyone with any knowledge of Hawaiin history...and that is not trashing the Mormans...just a fact! Go if you wish, just read up and educate yourself first!

You obviously have no clue to what is Polynesian.

None of the luaus are authentic.

PCC is the closest to being authentic.

I recommend PCC because of its great entertainment.

10 shows compared to one at any other luau.

'Horizons' with a cast of over 100 compared to about 20 at any other luau. 'Horizons' alone is much better than the entertainment at any other luau.

The food at the Ali'i Luau is average, but no worse, no better than any other luau.

But, at PCC there are other options for food including an optional buffet and a prime beef dinner, of which both are better than any other luau.

No other luau has anything like a canoe pageant.

No other luau has an IMAX film.

No other luau has more than a couple of hours of entertainment including the dinner.

PCC has far for games and demonstrations than any other luau.

elJeffe simply bashes PCC because it is operated by Mormons & for no other reason.

Dear Travel for Fun, don't be dismayed by the endless back-and-forth about Oahu luau productions.

They are all the same basic schlock, the only real variance is production values and the relative talene of the individual performers. None are anywhere close to a "REAL traditional luau".

But you wouldn't necesarily want that either. Most Oahu visitors are seeking the Elvis, 5-0, Arthur Godfrey, home video type show, and a similar experience can be had at most of the offerings.

Pick one based on location and price, and don't worry about the others arguing over angels on pin heads.

Oh Please Dusty! Take a breath! I am allowed to say that I don't want the Morman church crammed down my throat after I've paid megabucks for a day! Everyone else can make their choice, and pay their money! Many, Many newcomers to the islands have NO idea of the history, and quite frankly don't care! That is the sad part.

You do a great service here on this board... But defending this prothletizing does no service to anyone! You think it's a great show...as a reader of history I was offended. My opinion, and yours. Others may make their choices.

See, you are another one that bashes PCC because it is operated by Mormons.

I don't care who operates PCC. It could be by Republicans or Democrats or Catholics or whoever.

I recommend PCC because it is by far the best Polynesian entertainment in Hawaii.

But for someone to suggest that I am cramming Mormon down their throat proves that you don't like PCC simply because they are operated by Mormons.

10 shows compared to one at any other luau.

100 performers compared to 20 at any other luau.

7 villages compared to none at any other luau.

A canoe pageant compared to none at any other luau.

An IMAX film compared to none at any other luau.

The Ali'i Luau which in itself isn't as good as some of the other luaus, but it is just a $25 add on and includes upgraded seats for Horizons.

I am not Mormon. Nor am I any religion. Nor do I know any Mormons.

I simply recommend PCC because the entertainment is much better than any other Polynesian entertainment in Hawaii.

I have been to Germaine's. It is an OK show.

I have been to Paradise Cove. It is a good show. It is a better show than Germaine's.

I have been to several other Polynesian shows on Oahu & Maui.

None even come close to PCC.

How many times have you been to PCC? Or the other luaus on Oahu?

After reading post after post that "PCC has the best Polynesian Entertainment" from Dusty. I have to agree with the previous posts thats it's a commerical money making machine. They have had three major layoffs in the past three months. Do the math. They can hold about 1,200 peolple at an average of $70.00 per person per day!

Yes, it is run by the Morman Church which is basically tax free. They had free parking for years then implemented a $3.00 parking fee. When they realized how much they were money they were generating from parking they raised it immediately to $5.00. As of November 17, 2008 the parking is now $6.00

Paradise Cove and Germaines are way more authentic luaus. In Hawaiian style, a luau is a party or feast generally with with cocktails and a party type atmosphere.

PCC had a regular American Buffet for many years, then decided to add a Hawaiian buffet and call it a luau.

If you notice, Dusty also pushes for the Creations Show. It is not a high quality show by any means. If you check the outer island Tripadvisor you will find out that Dusty's daughter or granddaughter dances for the show.

Enough said.

At one time a Mormon must have knocked on eljeffe 's door! We do agree with Dusty. The PCC has the best show in town. We've never seen nor heard of anybody having any Mormon pushing their beliefs on the people attending the PCC.
