Buying in Murfreesboro

Hi, we are thinking of purchasing a townhome at the Indian Hills golf course complex in Murfreesboro and don't really know anything about the complex or the area and was wondering if anyone had some local knowledge that they can share. We are moving there from Australia and have no children so schools will not be a problem. Basically I guess we just need to know a little about the area whether it is a safe area or not and any knowledge of the complex would be great. We originally wanted to buy in Nashville but have been told that Murfreesboro is a good alternative and you get more for your $.

First, TA tends to shut down threads that are about relocating vs tourism, so be prepared for this to get shut down.

Second, living in Mufreesboro (or any suburb) vs Nashville is a different experience. True, housing may be cheaper but there can be minuses in addition to plusses. It all depends on what your criteria are. For one thing, most people I know who enjoy Nashville's culture & exciting food/drink scene but live in surrounding counties soon grow weary of "commuting" to town to do the things they want to do. Murfreesboro is a good 40-minute drive to central Nashville. A lot will also depend on if you will be working and where - again, some people don't mind commuting in exchange for outer suburban life, others find it tiresome.

The townhomes at Indian Hills are nice. Very safe area, lots of restaurants and conveniences, and pretty close to the interstate.

Go to the city data forums for TN. The Nashville forum will be best as it is near Murfreesboro. City Data forums are geared to people relocating.
