First Night in Santa Fe

After a long day's travel from the east, we are looking for a fun, casual restaurant with great food.... Our choices are now Pasqual's, Los Mayas, El Farol or Santa Cafe. Any thoughts or recommendations?

I like Del Charros at the Inn of the Governors. They have a limited but very tasty menu, excellent margheritas, and a really good chocolate mousse cake. Simple, quick and tasty.

I've eaten here on the first night in town several times.

we too had a long day's travel from the east (Boston) and wished we had planned our first dinner out in advance - we were jet lagged, hungry and a little grouchy - so had a hard time deciding where to go for dinner -

- so we made early dinner reservations at Julian's (Italian) - we had eaten there before and liked it -

but Pasqual's is supposed to be a fun, casual restaurant - but it's small and reservations should be made ahead of time - (we had a reservation there for our last night - but cancelled - for a non Mexican restaurant) -

also El Farol on Canyon Road - has a great lunch and tapas menu - we went there for a dinner/flamenco show on Wed night - fun and met nice people at our table.

Santa Fe has great restaurants so you can't go wrong - just ask your concierge for recommendations ---

We arrived about 3:30-4:00 in the afternoon and thought afterwards we should have split a sandwich at the bar in our hotel and went out later on we were a little more rested --

Also Whole Foods on the way in to town has a great sandwich/salad section -

Have fun - it was our third trip and had a great time -

Pasquals is great but you can't go wrong in SF. Make the pilgrimage to The Pantry on Cerrillos Rd for breakfast one morning. Best green chile in SF.

El Farol is you choice from your list and what you are looking for. Often have live music and a great authentic menu
