If you get the chance, go in to this site:
It's located at 101 Main Street in Rowley (978) 948-7773.
They recently added these really nice rooms with fireplaces and jacuzzi's directly in the back area of their property. They're called Village Suites, so look for them online and see if you can get one may be? There's this one suite they have (it's rm. 117) that has a double sided fireplace that's running roughly $165 to $189 a nite. It would be convenient to get to the Willowdale Estate from here.
OR you could think about staying at an Inn right in Newburyport may be? It's only about 20-25 minutes away from the Willowdale Estate, if that, you could check out the Compass Rose Inn to see what you think about staying there? It's really quite the place, hopefully you can get a room here. This Inn is absolutely stunning, it's absolutely a keeper! It's this newly constructed federal style mansion, wait till you see it. Here's their site:
My dentist is located right near it; so I go by it all the time when I'm there and I also read about it right here on T.A. and it's definitely a gem! It's right in the center of town, close to the shops & restaurants where you'd want to be. Don't forget to try to get to this wonderful restaurant called "Not Your Average Joe's" it's right in the middle of town. When you get there, see if the hostess/host will seat you out in back on their veranda. It's got great cuisine here and the atmosphere is just SO nice. It should be okay to sit out there during October weather, I would think? This outside veranda area overlooks the Merrimac River. It's been my destination quite a lot this summer, as a matter of fact, so I wanted to make sure you tried to get there one way or another, it's wonderful here! There's a lot of great restaurants and bistro's right in Newburyport. You'll be busy there, trust me!
There's also a hotel in Danvers called the Sheraton Ferncroft Resort too, if you wanted to stay at a hotel instead?
You can head to Boston OR Rockport OR Salem for a day trip (or two) from any of these Inns, Motels or Hotels on the north shore, it's very convenient. If you stay in Newburyport? You could take the commuter rail from that town, just leave your car in the parking lot there. Go to www.mbta.com and click on commuter rail to see the schedule, click on Newburyport/Rockport line.
One more place! There's this motel in Beverly that's pretty convenient too. It's called the Lakeview Motor Lodge, it's got the commuter rail only a short walk from here. It's located at 5 Lakeview Avenue on scenic Rte. 1A in Beverly. You could head to Salem, Newburyport, Gloucester, Rockport or downtown Boston from here via train. That's a place where you could stay and save and have the best of both worlds!
Have a wonderful time no matter where you end up staying, it's going to be really tough to decide because there's SO many different choices!
I've driven by the Willowdale Estate SO many times, it's going to be quite a wedding!
