Petroglyph is a fun run-through, but you don't have to budget much time for it. It is just off I-40 and you can do a nice hike in an hour or two.

hi we just returned for a trip out there, check out the revfiews I did as we visited el morro and el malapais, our was driving adn 2 weeks but you can gleen some info and Bandilier, El Morro, and malapais, are good ssante fe is wonderful, plenty to do and see. enjoy your trip and send any questions you may have! best wishes

best and easiest way I know is to go to Ramah, New Mexico (city), then click on El Morro, (things to do) and then find my post (first one as of now) and click on the 75 reviews next to my handle NorthGeorgiatraveler in the ElMorro review, it should take you to all the recent reviews I did on our week plus trip to New Mexical last month and earlier this month...hope this helps...we did not do a trip report per se...since you were interested in El Morro and El Malpais in your question and I had just been there, I responded. best wishes

interesting I note you do forum posts and I do reviews..I have never used forum post at all and done all my own investigation....it is just a different way of doing things..I stumbled upon forum posts somehow and responded to help out....all the best

Thanks NorthGeorgiaTraveler. Will follow the links. I have found Forum posts invaluable in planning my trips in the last couple of years. Once I have a fair idea of what we want to do, I check in with the TA DEs to see if our plans make sense. It has worked out really well for us and I highly recommend doing that!!!
