Albuquerque, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas

We are planning to visit Albuquerque (from England) for a few days in late March for a convention. We would like to extend this into a two week holiday and take the opportunity to visit the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas, any suggestions?

Hi I guess we will have about 8 or so days and would like to see the Grand canyon and Las Vegas. We are flexible with a car and could leave it at either end I think. We aren't too concerned about a tight budget, but just want to get the best from the experience. We are not big gambles just want to experience Vegas (how long should we stay there?) Do we need to spend more than 1 night at the Grand canyon? My wife will visit Santa Fe for a day whilst I am at the convention.

Thanks for any help.

2 nights at the rim in GCNP are recommended. On the way from ABQ to GC several places worth a stop like Petrified Forest NP but there are more. From Flagstaff drive us89 north to Cameron and enter GC by its east entrance. Walnut CanyonNM, Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki NMs are on your way. Cameron Trading Post also is worth visiting. Also several places that reminds of R66. Between GC and LV you also can drive parts of R66 with a stop in Seligman.

Make your reservations for GC asap. www.grandcanyonlodges.com

There still can be snowy conditions on the way to GC and from GC.

If you can select lodging that offers a airport pick up shuttle.. You will not need to rent the car until setting out...The wife can take the Railrunner commuter train to down town Santa Fe, enjoying free transfers on the local bus system...A offshore based broker (say, carhire3000) might save you on both insurance and drop fees...carracar

Think there will be a drop off fee between ABQ and LV also for renters from Europe.

hotel.com regularly runs specials on las vegas and frequently circus circus runs a $20 a night deal ...check it out, also using hotel.com you get one night free for every ten nights purchased...check deal of the day each day and when they run southwestern or las vegas specials.

have a wonderful trip..

ps I also was just out that way look into some of the reviews on things to do and restaurants for some ideas...it was a budget trip for us and riving but you may have more cash and want to find bdetter accomodations etc

best wishes
