Thanksgiving in Albuquerque?

Any suggestions for 2 Scots in the ABQ area during Thanksgiving? Never experienced a Thanksgiving before! Thanks!

I would stay near Old Town, maybe Hotel Albuquerque. You can enjoy the old part of town, see the holiday lights and enjoy a very quiet time. Most hotel restaurants will be open as well as the casino restaurants. Some good options below.

For meals I would try the Casinos, they always have a big traditional feast and are always packed.

The River of Lights at the Botanical Gardens is awesome and that is a good weekend to check it out.

Ride the Sandia Tram up to the High Finance Restaurant or have a bite at the restaurant at the base.

Take the Rail Runner to Santa Fe and go see the sights at the Plaza and have some food.

We have similar questions every year. The local restaurants are almost all closed, except for some of the lower-end, chain restaurants such as Denny's, or Village Inn possibly. Thanksgiving is one of the primary "family" times in the U.S., so most dine with family and close friends.

I too would recommend you eat at your local hotel's restaurant. Old Town is an excellent suggestion. Aside from the Hotel Albuquerque of Old Town, the nearby Best Western Rio Grande also has its own restaurant.

One possibility would be to dine in Santa Fe. I think there are more options available on Thanksgiving there than in Albuquerque. Here's a link to an article for Thanksgiving in Santa Fe in 2010:

I dined at Dinner for Two last year on Thanksgiving and have made a reservation to do so again this year. I was also surprised to find some of the shops around the Plaza open on Thanksgiving Day in Santa Fe. Perhaps this is because Santa Fe is more tourist oriented than Albuquerque (although Albuquerque has many wonderful tourist options!).

Second the recommendation to go to Santa Fe. Many more and far better options there.

I think Dinner for Two is probably the one that will give you the most all-American home-style Thanksgiving dinner. But, The Compound, La Casa Sena, Las Fuentes at Bishop's Lodge Resort & Spa, Fuego at La Posada, and Terra at Encantado Resort all usually offer a special fixed price Thanksgiving menu. 315 Wine Bistro used to offer a Thanksgiving menu, but I don't know if they will this year. If you check the restaurant websites at the start of next month, details will probably start appearing.

The Santa Fe Examiner usually runs an article the first or second week of November listing the restaurants offering Thanksgiving menus and a brief rundown of what's on the menu, prices and so on. Might want to check their website, too.

One of the best ideas is Tamaya Hotel/Resort. Not only is it a beautiful place, but they really make a special Thanksgiving, combining Native American and traditional holiday food:

Look on page down under Activies. This is a must-do.

(or almost-must; I don't beleive in insisting!)

I am not sure where you are staying and would love to invite you to stay at the Sheraton Uptown in Albuquerque. We are across the street from all the best shopping in the city and and will prepare a beautiful Thanksgiving day meal for you. We have two options a buffet or a sit down dinner in the evening.

Hi Scotty!

The Albuquerque Journal (newspaper) ran an article this week on places that are open, including the wonderful Cool Water Fusion mentioned above.
