abq hotel recommendations required

We will be in town for 2 nights and require a decent hotel in a safe area within walking distance or on a good bus route

Also Is the old town the best place to stay in ABQ for closeness to attractions?

all recommendations welcome.

What attractions do you want to go to? If Old Town then Sheraton Old Town is a good hotel. If Downtown, the Hyatt and Doubletree are nice. Rapid Ride is a bus route that runs along Central and ends at Coronado Mall. It runs along Central (RT66) which includes downtown, Old Town, Biopark and the Aquarium. It runs frequently and is fairly cheap. As far as safety Albuquerque has some spotty areas but for the most part is safe near Central since it is very busy. Any other questions let me know.

Use Priceline.com

Check out www.biddingfortravel.com to find out how to effectively use Priceline.com

At the top of the New Mexico listing, biddingfortravel.com shows you the hotels Priceline uses in Albuquerque--shows the *level of the hotel and its location.

Then go to the biddingfortravel forum and read what bids are currently being accepted for the *level you want in the area you want. Then bid and save money.

Currently the Doubletree is going for $35.00 a night and the Sheraton is going for $40.00 a night, or less. Those prices are hard to beat.

The question above is critical--within walking distance of what? If you are thinking of Old Town, you'll need to stay in Old Town if you plan to walk. Albuquerque is a very small city, so driving from any area to another is really not a problem---15 or 20 minutes should do it.

We stayed at Bottgers Mansion right at the edge of Old Town, a real nice B&B within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops and museum.
