We will be staying at the Four Seasons for our trip in February, only a few weeks away!! I debated whether to splurge for an ocean side room or even a club room, but ended up booking a mountainside room for the following reasons.
1. The size of the room is the same for only $475/night.
2. You don't spend alot of time in your room sitting on your balcony looking at the ocean.
3. To make use of all the free food and drinks in the club room, you will have to leave the pool and go up to the club room several times during the day.
We prefer to spend most of the day by the pool or beach with a beautiful and free ocean view. By nightfall, you can't see anything from your room anyway.
This resort does offer poolside service. What we save on our room, we can easily spend at the pool or one of the restaurants.
On second thought, I have been to Maui over a dozen times and have had rooms on the ocean (just not from a hotel as pricey as the Four Seasons). If this is your first visit to the islands and it is a special occasion, you may find it worth it to splurge. It just comes down to how much you are willing to pay.
For me, just staying at the Four Seasons is a luxury. We usually travel with our 3 kids and stay in a condo but this time it will only be the two of us. I feel we are still getting a great hotel and all it has to offer without the big price tag.
