Hello everybody!

Here I am.

It seams that I finally found very interesting solution for accommodation for my family trip to Israel in September and wanted to ask some info.

Does anyone can tell me something about Moshav Dor aria? What kind of beach is Dor Beach (Tantura) on the Carmel Coast? Is it safe for young kids (I mean waves? Are they to big)? Do you think Zimmer is a good solution for family?

One more question, do I need a car to go around or there are train/bas stations?

Thank you beforehand for any info, suggestions or opinions.

1.The Tantura beach is considered the best in Israel. There are no big waves on any of our beaches. Sometimes we have jelly fish during the summer. I am sure they reach th Tantura beach though becuase it is in a small bay.

2. I don't know about the Dor zimmers, but a zimmer is a good solution for a family. Make sure they provide what you need and how big are the rooms.

3. You need a car, no train, and the bus service is not frequent enough.

Sorry - I omitted a NOT in my sentence about jelly fish. It should read: I am NOT sure they reach the beach....

If you have a rental car with you, it is a great location - very close to Zichron Yaakov, Caesarea and other attractions of 'Hof HaCarmel' (like Habonim, Ein Hod, pre-historic caves etc.). If you're without a car - you will probably have only the beach in walking distance. And for anything else (including getting to the train station in Binyamina) - you will need a taxi.

The Dor beach is perfect for children (very calm bay).

There are mosquitoes in the area (not very bad - just get some repellent),

Zimmer is great in my opinion for families - usually has more room than a hotel room and a little kitchen you can stock up for light meals. Though no organized activities (that a hotel might have) and usually without a pool.

Thank you very much for information and comments.

Yes, we will definitely have a car, because we would like to visit different places, but don't want to change accommodations all the time. I think Zimmer is a best solution for us in this situation, because we want some quite family place (not a hotel).

Thank you again

As writter before, Dor beach is one of the best beaches in Israel for families with kids. Hardly any waves (it is more like a small lagoon with a breakwater). Unfortunately, we do experience quite many jelly fish during the summer (this is the beach to which we usually go, since it is only 15 min. drive from where I live in Zichron Yaakov). In September, though, we see much less jelly fish, since water starts cooling down.

Staying in a zimmer anywhere between Caesarea and Haifa, could be a very good idea. Dor, for instance, is less than 30 min. drive from Haifa - meaning you can drive there for a day trip an get back to Dor for the night. I can't recommend any zimmer in Dor, since personally I don't know any, but if Binyamina is suitable enough for you (just south of Zichron Yaakov, about 10 min. drive from Caesarea and about 35 min. drive from Haifa), and if your budget is not too tight, I can highly recommend the Villa Agasi (part of Beit Grushka zimmers). www.zimmer.co.il/galil_lang.asp…

This is a full size family house, with 3 large bedrooms, full kitchen, living room etc. In the past we lived in California for a few years, and any time we came for a family visit in Israel we stayed there, and always enjoyed our stay.
