From Ribadeo to Playa de Aguas Santas (de las Catedrales)

Hallo!

Is there a way to get form Ribadeo to Playa de Aguas Santas (Playa de las Catedrales) by public transport??

We will have only two hours one Sunday afternoon in May to get there and back, and we would really love to see it, if it's possible!

Unfortunately I can only find articles in the press which announce summer only services.

This is the company which ran the service in summer 2012.

In order to see the rock formations a their best you must see them at low tide. The sand beach at high tide is small and you are unable to walk around the rocks.

Thank you!

I will check the company you mentioned.

One more question: when is high/small tide?

Could you help me with assuming what would it be like in the middle of June around 6 pm? (I know that for the coast in my country, but I suppose it's different in Spain)...

This is the Atlantic Ocean and tides are much higher than the Med. Sea.

This website (in Spainsh) gives the approximate hours of low and high tides.

It is for the local town, so times will be a few mins difference.

Thank you, this is great!

I will try to contact some tourist office in Ribadeo to see if there's some kind of local bus connecting town with the beach.

Did you ever find out if there was a local bus or some local option to get from Ribadeo to the Catedrales? I will be going beginning of August. And am in the same situation. Coming in on the big bus from SanSebastian and will not have a car.

No, I haven't. Sorry! :(

The only thing I know is that regular bus line leaving from Bilbao to Oviedo around 8 am I think, stops at Ribadeo.

Once you are there, you could maybe take a taxi or something like that? Since we had no information whatsoever, we gave up on Catedrales this time. :(

If you make it, please give me/us tips for the next visit to northern Spain! :)

One option is to catch the FEVE train from Ribadeo to Esteiro and then a 1.5km walk (west) to the beach ...... don't worry there's a bar restaurant there that you can stop at and refresh. Trains leave Ribadeo at 06:50, 11:12. 15:10 and 19:30 and the journey takes 8 minutes at a cost of 3 Euros for a return ticket. Trains back are at 10:58, 13:15, 19:18 and 21:38.

Does the FEVE train run 365 days a year? I am thinking about going in April 2014, hoping the crowds are thinner and also relying on public transport. Any hotels in the Esteiro station area?
