Salobrena in March

We're considering Salobrena in March. Wondering how the weather will be then. Villa has southern exposure and view to sea. Will we be able to utilize the patios and outdoor seating areas or is it too chilly, rainy or windy? Are beach restaurants open in March?

Most beach restaurants at Salobreña do not open until Easter and the coastal strip can look pretty dismal when everywhere is shut up. The village has bars open all year though for local residents.

March is ´iffy´ weatherwise - you could be lucky and get very pleasant days with temperatures well into the 60s - starts going very cool from 3 p,m. onwards - but you should also expect some very heavy showers and strong winds.

We like Salobreña but, personally, think it is a better place to stay from Spring to Autumn rather than over the Winter months.

For more beach front life / restaurants in March look at neighbouring Almuñecar or, for even more places, Nerja.

Thanks for you helpful reply. Is the weather pretty much like that all along the southern coast of Spain in March?

Pretty much so.

As I said - some days can be very pleasant but it goes very cool a soon as the sun starts to lower around 3-4 p.m. plus some rain is inevitable. Happily the rain generally comes in sudden short - very sharp - showers rather than prolonged downpours.

The villa we are looking at has a hot tub, so sounds like we'll get good use of it! Thanks again.

Although some of the beachfront restaurants will be shut in March that is by no means the norm. as most of them are now open all year round. The town will have plenty of restaurants and bars open as it is a working town and not just a holiday resort and therefore caters for its residents. You are unlikely to need particularly warm clothes during the day, just make sure you have something to cover up in the evening. If you are there at the end of March you should have lovely weather and it is a great time to get around as it is not too hot. The main problem in Feb/March and into early April can be the rain, but it will not be cold. Many of the restaurants close for their annual holiday in November, but March will be fine for choice.
