Day in Richmond with three girls (3, 6 & 8) What to do?

We're planning an overnight stay in Richmond with our three daughters on the way to the beach. It looks like there are so many things to do, but we'll really only have one day here (a Sunday). Can you recommend what you think would be the best activities for our family? I'd really like to see the Holocaust museum, but I don't think that would be appropriate for the younger girls at this age.

Thanks.

My kids used to love going to the Science Museum when they were 6 & 8 years old. (I imagine there are exhibits that would interest a 3-year-old too.)

I would look into either Maymont if the weather is good, or the Children's Museum if it's not.

You have been given some good suggestions so far, Here are a couple more, The Valentine Richmond History Center and The Virginia Museum of Fine Art, The Virginia Museum has a Mummy and a collection of Russian Imperial Easter Eggs. Check both out in the Richmond attractions section of

trip Advisor. The Virginia Capitol is also very interesting.

Cary Street, in the Carytown District, has many boutique shops, and cafe's, including one shop selling antique retro and theatrical costumes, and another shop that sells nothing but Flags and banners of all kinds (like people put on their front porches). The large Maymont Park has a free, petting zoo.

I would recommend Maymont, the Science Museum, possibly even Kings Dominion or Bush Gardens Theme Park. Bush Gardens is located between Richmond and Va Beach.
