Just a few things to then! I have duly printed off this list which is excellent and it will travel with us next year, so you will going trans-atlantic Places. Thanks for spending the time to do this.

No one shall ever go without something to do in Achorage again! I have nominated it for an inside page, great material there, Places. Blue

Blue - I did so earlier as well - great list! :)

numbereight, enjoy endless things and see in Anchorage and everywhere you go in Alaska. I hope you will have a great trip. Blue and Coalminer, you both are so sweet. Thanks I trust this list is going to help not only our friends but maybe some new and returning visitors to Alaska.

Places, that's a great list. Everyone planning a trip to Anchorage should review it and decide what places interest them and how much time they want to spend in Anchorage. Can you please make one of these lists for Fairbanks for those of us not interested in the over-touristy attractions that are pushed so much there? In defense of those of us who decide not to spend more than a half a day in Anchorage (or Fairbanks) it's a simple matter of limited time. Most travelers come to Alaska for a week or two, maybe three. Many decide that their time is better spent outside of the cities enjoying the natural wonders of Alaska.
|
Travel10000, thank you for your kind words. I don't feel qualify to make a list for Fairbanks at this point. Maybe after another visit there. Meanwhile I am thinking about making a similar list for Homer where visited many times and we usually stay there for a whole week. I agree with you and believe me I know how it is when we have only limited time to experience places but I feel sad for those who say "There is nothing to do". Btw, regarding your name, do you really have 10,000 places to travel to? My husband and I have only 201 on our list
|
That name is just a name. I never thought of it as having 10,000 places to travel to, but it's an interesting idea. What would you count as a place - a country, a state / province, a town, a day trip? It would be wonderful to be able to do unlimited travel and really see and enjoy all the amazing places in the world... or to dream about it.
|
Places - Homer would be a great list when you have time. Can I place my order now. Following yours, Coalminer and inluvwithak suggestion I am now the proud owner of a milepost book, which a friend of mine shipped to me from Pennsylvania. Unfortunately you cannot buy it in the UK or get it shipped here directly. I think I should may be set up a side line here!
|
travel10000, do you know this book "100 places to see before you die?' Or something like this. It includes places, landmarks, lodges, areas, specific beaches, Camp Denali, everything.
Do you have your list of places you want to see? That would help you expend your dreams and they sometimes come true. It is amazing how long is our list but we cannot stop ourselves from returning to Alaska year after year. numbereight, you made my day. LOL! When are you going to be in Alaska? I promise to let you know about my list for Homer but I need more time.
While studying the Milepost keep in mind that it is full of adds placed by businesses. From my personal experience I can tell you that a well written add doesn't guarantee well run business. So before you decide on accommodations or activities try to search this forum and/or post your own questions.

places - and a hearty amen on the advertising in the Milepost . . . that is why I love the forum - find out what they are really like! :)
