Lattes and pottery?

Hello,

Are there any good coffee shops in/near the Quarter? All I can find when searching the forum is references to the cafe au lait at Cafe Du Monde....and while I love beignets, I'm not a fan of chicory coffee.

(Note, our hotel is right around the corner from Red Gravy...do they do lattes? Or even have decent regular coffee?)

Also, any place in or near the quarter where I could find some pottery made by local artists? I did read about the Dutch Alley Artist's Co-op...any place else you'd recommend?

Thanks so much for your help!

I have bought some pretty interesting local pottery in the gift shop of the Ogden Museum. It is down by the WW2 Museum. You can go in and browse for free. If you buy admission you can see some examples of old New Orleans and Gulf Coast pottery like George Ohr and Newcomb. www.ogdenmuseum.org/

Here's a Google map of a coffee search around Red Gravy. http://goo.gl/BIU5E As previously mentioned, several Community Coffee outlets, also PJ's Coffee, Starbuck's (no PJ's or Starbuck's in the FQ) If you get to the other side of the quarter and beyond, I highly recommend Cafe Envie at Decatur and Barracks, and the Orange Couch in the Marigny. I was very happy with the coffee at Red Gravy.

As for the pottery, check out the video here: http://www.handsinclay.com/ I've also purchased pieces from Potsalot Pottery: http://www.potsalot.com/

Thanks for your question. You've made me aware of some places that are new to me.
