As you may recall, my trip this last October was a partial letdown as I came down with the flu and was confined to my hotel room for almost 2 days. With that as motivation, my wife and I booked a “do-over” trip to take in the Christmas sights of Nola, this time with our kids (the princesses).
Wanderlust, my bad. Those comments on sheltering kids were not directed at you, but I see why you might have thought that. On another recent thread there was a discussion about not taking kids to Nola because of what they might see there, which is what Highway and I were refering to. Of course, everyone should make their own decisions for their own families, I was just sharing my POV.
I read Wanderlust's trip reports. If I were able to party like that? Sorry kids you staying home.
i've raised three kids in NOLA and now have seven grandkids here...we frequently take them to the Quarter for appropriate events. I wouldn't take them to Bourbon for Mardi Gras day but they have been to the St. Joseph's day parade on Royal. We've taken them tailgating before a Saint's game, on Swamp tours and a Haunted History Tour. Like any other city NOLA has plenty for families as well as for adults.... the trick is in knowing what will interest your kids.
