The Provincial was my first choice too. It's very close to PDA.

Check The Monteleone with Papa Noel rates.

I've stayed twice at the Chateau Hotel on the corner of Chartres and St Phillip, was just fine.

Papa Noel rates end in December so they would not apply. Also, I don't think the Monteleone is under their target rate for most nights. It's been a couple of years since we stayed there and the rates were much much lower then because the tourism was still reeling because of Katrina and we paid almost that through a discount travel broker then.

I suggest the Wyndham Baronne Plaza or the Hampton Inn. Both are just across Bourbon with great locations but nice rooms with a mini-frig and good pricing.

I called the hotel back and they had an opening for the 2nd night and it was a junior suite!!!

So we get to stay at Place d'Armes for 2 nights now. Isnt that great?

Another question.

We did book for the 2nd night. They only had a junior suite which is 179.00.(the first night at PDA is 159.00)

For that price I am thinking we could get a balcony room somewhere else??

I would rather have a balcony room than a junior suite with no balcony.

Try Hotel Villa Convento on Ursulines-they have balconys.

You might be able to get one with a balcony but I would think for only one night with a balcony the time it would take to pack up and move would be a pain. That is just me, others may feel differently. I guard my time in NOLA jealously and try to not spend any time doing stuff that is NOT fun, like changing hotels.
