Big Birthday Celebration - suggestions?

My husband is turning 50 and we want to celebrate in NOLA. We arrive Nov 30 and leave Dec 4th.

Here are the priorities:

A friend has an airboat tour on the top of his list. Which is the best and about how much do they run (no website show prices).

We are all about food and music. While I am not opposed to dropping a chunk of money on a great meal, I would much rather eat in a dive with amazing food. BBQ, Poboys, fried chicken, turtle soup, alligator...where do the locals go? (I am already on a diet so I can show up underweight, lol)

Are the cemetery tours worth it?

This is obviously an epic birthday and we want to make the most of it. Luckily our friends don't act their age either so late nights are fine by us. What would you do?

Thanks!

Where are you staying? Will you have a car. I would celebrate at Muriel's. Have drinks on their balcony overlooking Jackson Square. Lil Dizzy's, Liuzza's and Mandina's are fun places that are inexpensive and casual. I'm not a cemetery fan but many are. Cajun Pride is a good airboat tour.

Cajun Pride Swamp Tours @ 110 Frenier, LaPlace, LA 985 - 651 - 4477.

I would stay in the FQ. Visit the FQ and Marigny. Go to the neat clubs on Frenchmen. Take the St. Charles SC to the Garden District and Uptown. Visit the neat shops on Magazine. Have lunch at Lilette, Coquette, Casamento's or Martinique Bistro. Visit the zoo at the end of Magazine at Audubun Park. Enjoy your visit.

We are staying at French Market Inn, no car. We are fine with public transportation.

One of our friends is a professional photographer so I am sure he will want to see things worth the photos.

Here are some suggestions I got from my SIL who was just there. Any thoughts?

Irisher - the chef won Chopped.

Marginy

Mothers

I was looking at The Joint, Eat and now I can't remember the name. It is a grocery with a huge sandwich menu...

Also, the rest of our party LOVE Bloody Mary's (me not so much) so who has the BEST. My husband loves them spicy and loaded with goodies.
