Hotel de L'Eau Vive |
|
We are staying here the first week of October, and I'm kinda confused. I know the place burned down on Sept 2, 2005 in the aftermath of the storm, and when I wrote the concierge, she told me that it reopened on Sept 6 of this year. Then I read reviews dated this year, here on TripAdvisor, that listed a review in July that was not so flattering. What's up with that? Any of you stayed there or know anything about this???? |

Hi. We have a timeshare at the Hotel de L'Eau Vive, the week of October 12th thru the 19th (can't wait, we leave on Friday) and I can assure you that it is a nice place. There are two parts to the Hotel and the one part that burned down is the part we have our timeshare in. It just re-opened in September. If you are staying there, it is brand new, the whole building and furniture, etc. We were there in July and stayed in the older part, which is older, but still very nice and big! It has a much more New Orleans feel than the newer building we will be in. If you have ever been to New Orleans you will understand that there are very few places to stay that are ultra modern or really, really fancy. And of course if they are, they are very expensive. Thats a part of the feeling of New Orleans and you either like it or don't! Hotel de L'Eau Vive is right across the street from Harrah's and right next to Mother's restraurant. Everyone who works there is very nice and helpful.

Hi! Thanks for your post. I just got back, so the info was a little late, but still appreciated. We stayed in the older part, and you're right, it did have a very "New Orleans" feel, right down to the exposed brick walls. We were a little disappointed that there was only one bathroom for the two bedrooms, but it wasn't a problem. Our friends even bought a timeshare there in the part that was just renovated before Katrina. The tourist parts of the city remain beautiful, but the devastation is more than I imagined. Just horrific! I have never been anywhere where the locals were so warm and welcoming. Not just those in the tourist trade, but people on busses and along the street welcomed us and thanked us for coming! Have fun!
