Hotel Options & location

Hi we are planning a trip over next week,we have never been to the Hot Springs area-so I feel a lil lost....

Can anyone reccomend a place with an indoor pool for my children I found Holiday inn Express & Country Inn & Suites-we are wanting a place with easy access to Crater of Diamonds St Park

Also any info on Crater of Diamonds or helpful hints or tips.

Any not to miss restaurants?

How do you go about getting a "bath" and what are the rates-I saw something on bath house row but i got the impression the bathhouses are closed?

Things to do "on the cheap"

Thanks for your help!

1. Re: Hotel Options & location

Hi pastasalad,

Both hotels are on the same street, and are in a central location, but not in the "touristy" area. As for the Crater of Diamonds, the hotel wouldn't matter. It's in Murfreesboro, about an hour and 45 min. away.

Mc Clards BBQ is very famous! If you like BBQ, don't miss it. It's a small mom & pop place, but is very well known. You can buy their sauce for a souviener. There are a lot of great places to eat. If you can stay away from the "chain" restaurants, (Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc), you'll find a lot of hidden gems. My personal favorite is the Hot Springs Brau Haus. Even if you don't like German food, they have pasta and several non-German things. The atmosphere is SO much fun! At night there is usually live music - mostly on the weekends, but some weeknights.

Here's some info about a bath. www.hotsprings.org/things_to_do/baths_spas/

Also, come prepared for bad traffic. It's Oaklawn race season, and there's ongoing construction on Central Ave. Other than that, the rest of the city will be fine. Restaurants tend to be crowded after the races let out.

Have a great time!

Thanks for the reply.

we stayed at the country inn and suites-except for a few minor probs it was a nice place with a good hearty breakfast.

we didnt encounter too much traffic-guess we got lucky on that.

The crater of diamonds was a fun expierence for the whole family glad we did that! No luck on finding any diamonds tho'

We ate at salsa's it was really pretty good, excellent service and at The Cajun Boiler-the guys really liked this place.

We plan to come back in the summer and visit Magic Springs
