Brooklyn hotel near Barclays Center

I am looking for a hotel just for one night near Barclays Center that is in a safe location and is reasonably priced, preferably that can sleep 4 people. We will only be there at night just to sleep so I don't want to spend much, but it has to be clean and safe.

There are a number of hotels nearby, but since nearly all subway lines run directly to the Barclay's Center, you can stay pretty much anywhere near a subway and be very close.

Nearby hotels include the Fairfield Inn and Suites on 3rd Ave, the Super 8 on 3rd Avenue, the Holiday Inn Expresses on Butlet Street and on Union Street, and in the other direction the Aloft and the Sheraton on Duffield St.

If we didn't stay right in Brooklyn, would it be safe to take the subway somewhere else later at night, probably after 11 p.m?

Thanks. Do you think we'd be better off staying in Brooklyn or do you have any other suggestions? We'll only be there one night and will be leaving the next morning. We'll probably be taking the Metro North out of the city and will need to leave from Grand Central Sunday morning. Do you know how long a subway ride it would be from the Barclays Center area to Grand Central?

15 minutes, maybe less if you take an express train like the 4

What else would they take?

I'd say it's 20-25 minutes to Grand Central, actually, but it's just one train, either the 4 or 5 directly there.

And it's not a question of Brooklyn or somewhere else, it's a question of right by the Barclay's Center or farther away. You could still stay in Brooklyn, but a little further out, or you could stay in Manhattan. It depends on your budget.
