Heading to Baltimore next Monday to catch a Yankees-O's game (and I am a Red Sox fan--long story!)...anyway, we're staying at the Residence Inn on Light Street and are low key pizza brewpub kinds folks...suggestions for making it a great stay (two nights)?

Around game time theres some decent bars by the stadium;

there are some other places in walking distance too good for before and after game.

there are a few areas you can check out:

and of course the inner harbor area...

have fun.

You should find your way over to Hampden at some point. This is the hip neighborhood in Baltimore right now (Fells Point used to be but now it's really gentrified. Hampden is like Fells Point was 10 years ago). Lots of cool little shops and restaurants:

You should check out Brewer's Art- it is on Charles St. This is the best brew pub in Baltimore.

The Wharf Rat location in Fells Point has more character, IMHO.

Cool, thanks...if I have it right, Hamden is a cab ride away from Light Street...but I'll assume worth it...we like to walk hang out, have a beer, people watch, eat some decent (healthy-ish, reasonably priced) grub...arrive Sunday, are touring Camden Yards at 12:30...then we are free until the game Monday, starts at 1:35, and are free after the game...so we're looking to keep busy and have fun, see the city, but we're not really hyper-fancy...if that makes sense...we prefer walking to cabbing but we aren't opposed to cabbing somewhere for fun. Is Fells Point passe?

Fells Point isn't passe it's just not as cool as it used to be. The artists, musicians, etc don't live there any more because it's gotten too expensive. That being said there are a lot of cool little shops there and a TON of bars, but it's just not as counterculture as it used to be.

BTW- make sure you check out the Hampden article that I added- I couldn't believe that there was nothing on Tripadvisor about it!

If you like pizza & brewpubs you'll love the Dog Pub in Federal Hill. A short walk from camden yards, great specialty pizzas & it's a microbrewery. Good stuff. Enjoy.

I concur about trying the Dog Pub. I get carry out from there at least once a week. Excellent pizza and microbrews in a laid back atmosphere. Follow Light Street into Federal Hill and turn right when you hit Cross Street. The Dog Pub will be on your right. There are tons of other bars and restaurants close by as well. Check out the Cross Street Market (market by day, cheap beer and big crowds by night) if you can stomach the fishy smell.
