Dog boarding

We plan on visiting this Spring and travel with our small dog.

We would like to board her during the day while we sight-see.

Will probably stay in south Jacksonville-Orange Park area.

Any suggestions?

Can you tell us a little more about your stay? Purpose for the trip? Etc....

Orange Park is probably the last place I'd stay if I were coming in town for sight-seeing or travel. IF you have a reason to be there (maybe you have a son/daughter/relative at the military base, or have family there), then I completely understand. Otherwise, let's find you a new area of town.

As for boarding, this place has great reviews: http://www.barkavenue-petresort.com

I'm not at all familiar with Jacksonville.

This is just a 4-5 day vacation and a hotel in Orange Park was recommended to me.

We want to visit the St Augustine and Atlantic coast so it seemed centrally located

I recommend either staying in/around downtown Jacksonville, or at the Jacksonville beaches. If you're main goal is the coast, then staying around the beaches will give you the perfect vantage point between what Jacksonville has to do/offer, and what the beaches/St. Augustine has to do/offer.

Right on, Ben!

jljnla, suggest you look at these hotels in Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach:

Seahorse Oceanfront Inn: http://www.jacksonvilleoceanfronthotel.com/

This is the best value of hotels on the beach. Has an elevator, and free parking. This hotel is very popular. Reserve early.

The Palms Retro: http://www.palmsretro.com/

This is an interesting place, remodeled in a retro decor.

For superb dog boarding, check out the Julington Creek Animal Walk. They have great services for dogs, and it's convenient to Orange Park, if that is where you end up staying. If you stay somewhere else, this will probably not be the most convenient, but I can recommend it wholeheartedly. Here's a link:

Hello again, jljnla,

Beach Bum Pet Spa on Atlantic Blvd in Atlantic Beach offers day boarding for $12/day. 515 Atlantic Blvd, Atlantic Beach Fl 32233.Telephone 904 853-6093 beachbumpetspa@gmail.com

This place is two blocks from The Palms Retro: http://www.palmsretro.com/

and four blocks from Seahorse Oceanfront Inn: http://www.jacksonvilleoceanfronthotel.com/

Your dog will love the beach, and he will have company!

Atlantic Beach (which is north of Atlantic Blvd) allows dogs on leashes on the beach all day and night.

Neptune Beach (which is south of Atlantic Blvd) allows dogs on leashes on the beach before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m. (but does not allow dogs on the beach between 9 and 5.)
