Thank you to all the folk who gave us great advice for our first visit to Jacksonville. We flew in to JAX, arriving at about 2:30. We had our rental car and were at the Courtyard Marriott Flagler Center by 4:00. We had a great dinner at Marker 32 on Friday night, arriving before sunset and getting a table by the window. My wife said the salmon was one of the best she has ever had. An appetizer, 2 entries, bottle of wine, tax, and tip were about $90. Great evening. Saturday, we drove to St Augustine (25 minutes), drove out to the beaches, walked around the historic area, and then spent a nice afternoon on the roof top patio of San Sebastian Winery, enjoying some soft, live music, wine, and appetizers. Saturday night was a quick dinner at Applebee's, next door to the hotel. Sunday morning, we had breakfast and then drove to the stadium (20 minutes) for the Lions vs Jags game. Nice stadium, but a little warm sitting in the sun for several hours. After the game, we drove out to Atlantic Beach (?) and had dinner at Ragtime. It was okay, but not near as good as Marker 32. Monday morning, we left the hotel at 9:00 a.m. and had returned the car and cleared security by 10:00. It was a great trip with 4 days of blue sky. We met some very nice people. Thanks, again, to all who offered advice.
