My bf and I are doing a road trip from LV to San Fran in April after a friend's wedding and are trying to spend about a day and a half in DV on the way. We are curently leaving LV hopefully by 9am on the 3rd (but now seeing how much there is to do we will see if we can pick up rental earlier and head off maybe at 8) and need to be somewhere near-ish the Yosemite area (thinking Frenso/Oakhurst but we are flexible depending on how we get on with the drive) on the 4th, but we are happy to arrive late in the evening. We will have until sunset on the 3rd to tour round DV (ideally ending at a view point for sunset if feasible) and then about 8.30-9am til about midday on the 4th, and then we know we will have a very long drive to somewhere nearer Yosemite (with a bit of a drive the next morning to get all the way to Yosemite).
In this time, what can we realisiticaly see and where would people recommend visiting? We accept we won't be doing 3 hour hikes into canyons as we wont have the time, but probably seeing a little of what things have to offer on a shorter time scale and might have to restrict how many sights we visit, but we want to get as much out of the trip as possible.
The following is a list of places we have pulled up as potential options. We are currently are booked into panamint springs but hoping to change that to stovepipe wells.
Rhyolite, titus canyon, mosaic canyon, golden canyon, artists drive, badwater, dante's view, zabriskie point, agueberry point, borax works, natural bridge.
We will be passing another ghost town elsewhere on our travels if we do miss Rhyolite.
Thoughts and suggestions very welcome.
