We have the opportunity to go hiking at Cochise Stronghold next Saturday and are thinking about staying over and visiting Chiricahua National Monument on Sunday. We'd like to hike there, too, but may be tired from 6mile hike at 5000 ft at Cochise. Can we see enough of the park without hiking to make it worthwhile? How long will it take us to have a good visit (without hiking)?

There is a very nice paved road in Ch Nat Mon with a loop into Bonita Canyon and a side road to one of the peaks. The rock formations are spectacular. You don't have to do much hiking to see them.

Forgot to say that it is about 40 miles from Willcox to the CNM. It's also possible to go south from the area of Cochise Stronghold and then east to the monument. Except for B&B's and ranches, the lodging is in Willcox.

If you're just driving in CNM, 2-3 hours is sufficient.
