ft bliss (main post) is large plus it has alot of firing ranges. The post has kept alot of its bldgs due to the historical value. El Paso and Ft Bliss havve been hand in hand since 1850s. The ITT office does agreat job and due to BRAC, ft bliss will be getting larger in the next few years. 10 yrs or so ft bliss lost the 3rd herd (3rd ACR) to ft Carson and i heard alot of 3rds miss el paso. the PX is less than 5 yrds old and there is alot of construction. Due to Ft Bliss, the 1st Gulf War went alot better. THIS IS PATRIOT COUNTRY!!!.

If you are going to be moving to Fort Bliss, www.blissmwr.com is an excellent site to check out. It has the website of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation office and has much more relevent and interesting information compared to www.bliss.army.mil.

Fort Bliss is very interesting; there of course is the wonderful culture from Juarez and El Paso, and the location is close to a lot of cool things in New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico. There are frustrating parts, of course; finding a job is difficult if you are not fluent in Spanish.

And don't believe all the hype about how dangerous it is (tons of people "warned" me about El Paso and Juarez). I'm sure there are "bad parts of town" like any other area, but we haven't had ANY problems yet.

If you are relocating to Bliss know that as of now the entire city of Juarez is off limits to military personnel. Spouses are free to go to Juarez, but due to the danger of females going alone in that city (murder and rape), I'd recommend against it.
